十時 ソフィア未來
Andrea - アンドレア (2015)
What can we see in a person and what not?
Where are our thoughts? Is our body a shell?
This portrait tries to go beyond physical and visible. It represents a ‘mental connection’ with a blinded human in a gap of mu (Japanese concept of nothingness) that separate humans in our intimate thoughts. People can see other people's bodies but only expect what they are thinking. The encounter of figurative and abstract as physical and mental existence is reflected in this painting metaphoring the stranger's thoughts as an unreadable ‘pulsation’ in contrast of the materiality of the body as a shell.
